Petrus Canisius, Epistulae ineditae,
edited by Paul Begheijn s.j., Vincent Hunink, a.o., Rome ca. 2008
The great Jesuit Saint from Nijmegen, Peter Canisius,
wrote a great number of letters. Many hundreds of them have been collected in
the monumental edition of Braunsberger. In recent decades, many letters emerged
that remain still unpublished. Paul Begheyn s.j., one of the world's leading
experts of Canisius, and I are preparing a critical edition of all extant letters not
published by Braunsberger. My
tasks include preparing the Latin texts for publication and adding summaries in
English of their content. The completion of the project will take several years.
